White House: US–Iran talks remain in force

4 February 2026, 00:07

The talks planned to be held this week between the US and Iran have not been cancelled, despite the incident involving the downing of an Iranian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

Modern.az reports that White House Press Secretary Caroline Livitt made a statement about this in an interview with “Fox News” television channel.

According to her, US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff is preparing to hold talks with Iranian representatives this week, and the meeting is currently in effect as planned.

Livitt also stated that President Donald Trump has several options regarding Iran, and these options include the possibility of using military force.

It should be recalled that earlier, the “Axios” portal had reported that a meeting between US President's special envoy for peacekeeping missions, Stephen Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi could take place in Istanbul on February 6.
