Iranian diplomat fled the embassy - seeks asylum

A high-ranking Iranian diplomat, Gholam-Reza Darikvand, responsible for relations at the Iranian embassy in Austria, has fled from Switzerland and requested political asylum.

Modern.az reports that the diplomat is the second Iranian diplomat to flee from Switzerland and request political asylum in recent weeks.

He has taken this step after Ali-Reza Hokmabad, who served in Iran's mission at the UN headquarters in Geneva.
