The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that President Donald Trump's imposed global tariffs exceeded his authority under federal law and annulled them.
Moder.az reports that this was one of the steps Trump considered a priority during his second presidential term.
The decision was issued by conservative Chief Justice John Roberts and explicitly confirmed the tariffs were illegal, without providing further explanation regarding refunds, trade agreements, or Trump himself.
Experts state that this decision once again affirms the Supreme Court's role in keeping other branches of government, including the president, in check. Peter Shane noted that the court is not obliged to provide legal cover for every step of Trump's platform. (Reuters)
