A serious road accident occurred in the central part of Bangladesh. At least 18 people lost their lives after a passenger bus fell into a river.
Modern.az reports that, according to local sources, the incident occurred while the bus was on a pontoon. The vehicle, full of passengers, suddenly rolled into the river while waiting to board a ferry. It is reported that there were approximately 40 people on the bus in total.
During the accident, 11 passengers managed to escape by getting out of the water on their own.
Rescuers retrieved the bus from the bottom of the river approximately 6 hours after the accident. As a result of search and rescue operations, the bodies of 18 people were found. The fate of several other passengers remains unknown.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
