Turkey's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that the explosion of an oil tanker carrying 140 tons of cargo occurred as a result of external interference.

Modern.az reports that the minister noted that the underwater attack version is being investigated.

He stated that technical teams have been dispatched to the scene. They will determine the cause of the explosion in the coming hours.

"We will provide a more precise statement after the investigation. But currently, we can say that this is an explosion that occurred as a result of interference. Especially, targeting the engine compartment aims to completely disable the ship.”

It should be recalled that a crude oil tanker named "ALTURA" belonging to Turkey was hit by a drone in the Black Sea. The tanker, which departed from Russia and was carrying 140 thousand tons of crude oil, was subjected to a drone attack in the Black Sea, approximately 15 miles from the Bosphorus Strait. A powerful explosion occurred during the incident. Damage was recorded on the ship's deck and bridge section. It was also reported that water entered the ship as a result of serious complications. The condition of the 27-member Turkish crew on board was noted to be good.
