The types of activities for new jobs created in 2025 in the liberated Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions have been announced.
According to information obtained by Modern.az from the State Statistical Committee, while the number of newly opened jobs in the Karabakh economic region was 2266 in 2024, it increased to 2275 in 2025. Significant changes across sectors are noteworthy over the years. Jobs in agriculture, forestry, and fishing nearly doubled, rising from 227 to 459. A sharper dynamic is observed in the education sector. Specifically, the number of jobs in this sector increased from 228 to 679, indicating an expansion of social infrastructure.
Conversely, a decline is observed in the construction and repair sectors. The number of jobs opened last year in tourist accommodation and public catering was 29.
At the same time, 164 new jobs were opened in water supply and waste treatment, and 74 in public administration and social security.
In the East Zangezur economic region, the overall dynamic developed in a different direction. The number of new jobs, which was 953 in 2024, became 854 in 2025. However, structural changes are also noteworthy here. In tourist accommodation and public catering, it increased from 91 to 226. Concurrently, last year, 39 jobs were created in transport and warehousing, and 37 new jobs in professional, scientific, and technical activities.
On the other hand, 127 new jobs were created in construction, 19 in administrative and support services, and 27 in agriculture.
Statistics show that the economy in the liberated territories has entered a new phase. Thus, after initial restoration and reconstruction works, economic activity is increasingly directed towards social infrastructure, services, and sustainable development sectors.
