Every life is a book. Some leaf through it quickly, while others write patience, love, and wisdom on every page. There are people who walk alongside time for years, witnessing history – centenarians. They are an example and model for society not only with their age but also with their life experiences, spiritual richness, and the art of living.

In this edition of Modern.az's “Masters of Life” column – we are talking about the oldest resident of Kurdamir district.

Kurdamir district is located in the Aran economic region, on the Shirvan plain. Its territory is mostly flat, and its climate is of the dry semi-desert type. Summers are very hot and dry, while winters are mild. There are almost no mountains, forests, or ice springs here... The situation regarding clean air and abundant oxygen also differs from other places. Therefore, when Kurdamir is mentioned, the vast majority do not even consider longevity. However, the fact shows that there is a long-lived resident over 100 years old in Kurdamir.

Currently, the longest-lived resident of this district is 101-year-old Lalazar Mahammad gizi Teyyubova.

Thus, longevity depends not only on natural conditions but also on people's lifestyle, nutrition, and socio-psychological conditions. In addition, experts say that some aspects of Kurdamir's nature may be beneficial for longevity:

mild climate, clean air, strong agriculture, and access to fresh food. However, this does not automatically guarantee longevity. A healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition, and a stress-reducing social environment are also important.

Grandma Lalazar was born on January 1, 1924, in Shilyan village of Kurdamir district. She currently continues her life in Qarasu village of Kurdamir. Lalazar Mahammad gizi Teyyubova is a brave Azerbaijani woman who has carried the burden of years on her shoulders, having lived a life equivalent to a century. Grandma Lalazar's life path, her devotion to family, and the years she spent with patience and humility serve as an example for older generations.

Grandma Lalazar has 8 children – 5 sons and 3 daughters. Her lineage has now grown into a large family. Thus, she has 27 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Each of them benefits from Grandma's life philosophy, loyalty, and the value she places on family.

Her husband, Teyyubov Gara Shukyur oglu, also lived an honorable life. Born in 1920, he participated in World War II from 1941 to 1945, earning the title of veteran. Gara was a pillar of his family throughout his life, living a responsible and dedicated life. He passed away in 2009.

Currently, 1318 people over the age of 80 live in Kurdamir district. However, Grandma Lalazar stands out as the longest-lived resident among these elderly individuals. Her life path is measured not merely by numbers, but by values.

We wish Grandma Lalazar robust health, peaceful, and happy days. Life-holders like her – are true life teachers who build bridges between the past and the present, leaving a mark in memories.
