There is new information regarding Ramiz Mehdiyev, former head of the Presidential Administration and academician, for whom a 4-month house arrest pre-trial detention measure was chosen.
According to information received by Modern.az from circles close to Mehdiyev, the academician, who was the subject of media and social networks yesterday evening, experienced a deterioration in his condition. A doctor was even called for him. During the medical examination, it was reported that Mehdiyev's nervous system was disrupted due to tension and stress, and his blood pressure had excessively risen.
According to the information provided, one of the main issues that angered 87-year-old R. Mehdiyev is that some people whom he once promoted to positions, granted parliamentary mandates, and bestowed influence upon, are now speaking against him in the press. It is specifically emphasized that this situation has seriously affected the academician's moral state.
Ramiz Mehdiyev had not expected that the individuals he had once nurtured would deny him so quickly.

He is accused under Articles 274 (Treason), 278 (Forcible seizure of power or forcible retention of power), and 193-1 (Legalization of criminally obtained funds) of the Criminal Code.
Considering his age, the investigation deemed it appropriate to keep him under house arrest during the preliminary investigation period.
