In 2026, 66 districts and cities will operate without receiving subsidies from the state budget.
According to Modern.az, this issue is reflected in the draft law “On the State Budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026” discussed at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship.
According to the draft law, starting next year, most cities and districts of the country will ensure their financial sustainability.
The document states that, with the exception of Khojavand district, the remaining 66 cities and districts of Azerbaijan will cover their expenses in 2026 solely from their internal revenues, without receiving financial assistance (subsidies) from the state budget.
