Since the beginning of 2025, the licenses of more than 4000 taxis have been revoked.
This information was provided by the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) in response to an inquiry from Modern.az.
It was stated that, before reforms related to taxi operations were implemented, a chaotic situation prevailed in this area, and the safety situation was at a low level.
“As a result of the reforms implemented in this area, a number of important results have been achieved. Constant control is exercised over this area by AYNA. To ensure full control over all processes, an “E-taxi” subsystem has been created, and taxi permits are issued online without physical contact. To further increase transparency and service quality in the taxi operations sector, new electronic mechanisms are being implemented (identification of drivers and vehicles, a “digital twin” for taxis). Currently, work is underway to enhance overall control through technological solutions,” the information states.
It was noted that, in the Law “On Licenses and Permits,” provisions regarding the revocation of permits exist, and accordingly, the revocation of permits is formalized.
Additionally, according to information provided by the agency, entry permits can be revoked due to inconsistencies in documents and based on the application of the permit holder.
