A freight train carrying 1300 tons of AI-95 gasoline (high-octane fuel) from Azerbaijan has crossed the Georgia-Armenia border.
Modern.az reports that Armenia's Minister of Economy, Gevork Papoyan, announced this on social media.
Yesterday, in accordance with the agreements reached at the meeting between the Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Mher Grigoryan and Shahin Mustafayev, held in Gabala on November 28, it was reported that a 22-wagon freight train carrying SOCAR's first batch of oil products had departed from Azerbaijan to Armenia.
G. Papoyan stated that 22 wagons of gasoline are already on the Armenian side.
According to the Minister, this is not only the first trade and economic agreement since the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan (referring to the Washington Agreements dated August 8 - ed.), but also the first such agreement since the two countries gained independence.
It should be noted that the fuel was delivered by railway from Baku to Ganja, then through Böyük Kəsik to the Georgian border (approximately 500 km), from there via Gardabani to Tbilisi, and then to the Armenian border (Sadakhli-Ayrum).
