At the Baku Military Court, the verdict is being read out to the accused in the ongoing trial of Armenian citizens.
According to Modern.az, it was noted that despite the accused Bako Sahakyan being charged with committing crimes punishable by life imprisonment, and these charges being proven during the judicial investigation, because the said accused reached the age of 65 before the final court decision, i.e., the verdict, was issued, according to the requirements of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a life imprisonment sentence cannot be imposed on him.
According to the verdict, the accused Bako Sahakyan was definitively sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment.
It should be recalled that the prosecutors defending the state prosecution had also proposed that the accused B. Sahakyan be sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment.
It should be noted that the trial of citizens of the Republic of Armenia accused of committing crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, including the preparation and conduct of aggressive war, genocide, violation of the laws and customs of war, as well as terrorism, financing of terrorism, forcible seizure of power, forcible retention of power, and numerous other crimes as a result of Armenia's military aggression, continues with the reading of the verdict.
