President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Aziz Nasirzadeh, Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on February 6.
Modern.az reports that the head of state, recalling his telephone conversation with President Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran a few days ago, said that various contacts at high levels create a good opportunity for discussing issues related to our bilateral agenda.
President Ilham Aliyev, emphasizing that Masoud Pezeshkian's official visit to Azerbaijan last year was successful and yielded good results, stated that our relations have developed since this visit.
The head of state, emphasizing that wars and conflicts continue in many parts of the world, said that peace has already been established in the South Caucasus through Azerbaijan's initiative, and expressed his confidence that this is of great importance for Iran, which borders both Azerbaijan and Armenia. The Azerbaijani President, stating “We want peace throughout the world, no bloodshed, no wars,” emphasized that a model of transition from war to peace is being demonstrated in the example of our country.
The head of state stated that, as he noted during his telephone conversation with the Iranian President, Azerbaijan is concerned about the situation in the region and is ready to provide its support to eliminate this tension.
Aziz Nasirzadeh, expressing his gratitude for the reception, first conveyed the greetings of President Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the head of state. The guest, stating that he arrived in our country at the instruction of the Iranian head of state, emphasized that Masoud Pezeshkian showed great sympathy for Azerbaijan. He also noted that the Iranian President recalls his visits to our country, including Khankendi, with great satisfaction.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings, and asked him to convey his greetings to the head of the Iranian state.
During the conversation, the development of our bilateral relations based on the principles of friendship, brotherhood, and good neighborliness between our countries was noted, and an exchange of views was held on the prospects for cooperation in the field of defense.
