Azerbaijan and Armenia have lived in a state of war for a long time. This was due to Armenia's unjust occupation of Azerbaijani territories. Precisely for this reason, the almost daily dissemination of news regarding ceasefire violations caused concern in society. The change in this situation and the creation of an atmosphere of tranquility in society became possible with the Victory achieved by Azerbaijan in the 2020 Patriotic War and the success gained in the anti-terror operations carried out in 2023. It is true that after Azerbaijan's Victory in the Patriotic War and its successes in anti-terror operations, ceasefire incidents at the conditional border have subsided, but they have not ended.
Modern.az reminds that in the first half of 2025, units of the Army of the Republic of Azerbaijan were fired upon several times by the Armenian Armed Forces.
The ceasefire at the border was last violated on May 13, 2025. The Ministry of Defense stated in the information it disseminated on that day:
“On May 13, from 20:45 to 21:30, units of the Armenian armed forces intermittently fired upon the positions of the Azerbaijani Army from their positions located in the directions of Gorus and Chambarak districts using small arms. Adequate retaliatory measures were taken by our units in the mentioned directions”.
Indeed, this was the last violation of the ceasefire. Specifically, in the half-year since the initialing of the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia at the Washington Summit on August 8, no military provocation has been recorded at the border.
