"According to the amendments proposed to the Labor Code and already adopted in the first reading by the Milli Majlis, the minimum wage amount will be reviewed at least once a year."
Modern.az reports that MP Vugar Bayramov stated this. According to him, after the amendment is approved, periodicity will be ensured in minimum wage increases:
"This will mean that increases will now be regulated by law. The increase in the minimum wage ensures increases not only for low-wage earners but also for salaries across all levels of the unified tariff schedule (VTC). Thus, the monthly tariff (position) salaries of employees working in sectors financed from the state budget are adjusted to the new amount and increased within one month after the minimum wage is raised. This includes the position salaries of employees without civil servant status working in social, science, culture, youth and sports, agriculture, ecology and environmental protection, housing and communal services, transport and communication, melioration, water management, and fish farming sectors.
The salaries of our citizens working in these sectors and not having civil servant status are financed from the state budget based on the VTC. Salaries in the schedule are determined across 19 grades. Currently, the lowest salary is 400 manats, and the highest is 1150 manats. The periodic increase of the minimum wage will practically lead to increases across all grades. In this case, whether the salary is below or above the minimum level does not hold special importance. Overall, the increase in the minimum wage leads to an increase in the salaries of 700,000 of our citizens."
