President Ilham Aliyev's new Decree “On the Indexation of Labor Pensions” creates an opportunity for the next significant advancement in strengthening the social protection of pensioners and increasing pensions.
Modern.az reports that this is reflected in the information disseminated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.
"According to the Decree, all pensions assigned by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population until January 1, 2026, are increased by 9.3 percent through indexation from January 1 of this year, in accordance with the annual growth rate of the average monthly wage for 2025, based on the information provided by the State Statistical Committee.
This increase is carried out automatically through an electronic system, without the need for pensioners to apply or submit documents.
Increases made to pensions for January will be paid together with the February pension. That is, pensioners will now receive their February pension with the new increase, as well as the amount of the increase made to their January pension.
The indexation and increase of pensions apply to all pensioners (including retired military personnel, law enforcement officers, etc.), i.e., 1.1 million pensioners, and an additional 640 million manats have been allocated annually for these increases.
By the Decree of the Head of our State, pension capitals recorded in the individual accounts of insured persons until January 1, 2026, are also increased by 5.6 percent through indexation, in accordance with the annual level of the consumer price index for the past year.
This increase, applied at the beginning of each year, shows that the pension capitals of individuals participating in the social insurance system are increased not only through social insurance contributions from their wages but also by the state through annual indexation", - the information stated.
