The period of house arrest for Ramiz Mehdiyev, the former head of the Presidential Administration, who is accused of committing particularly grave crimes against statehood, has been extended.
Modern.az reports that the Sabail District Court has made a decision on this matter.
Considering the importance of conducting comprehensive investigative actions in the criminal case, the judge granted the motion filed by the State Security Service (SSS). According to the decision, the pre-trial measure of house arrest chosen for Ramiz Mehdiyev has been extended for another 4 months.
It should be noted that Ramiz Mehdiyev, who is known as the “grey cardinal”, is accused of treason, actions aimed at forcibly seizing power, and legalizing property acquired through criminal means. As a result of the investigation conducted by the SSS, AXCP chairman Ali Karimli, his deputy Mammad Ibrahim, and Eldar Amirov, who was a close associate of Ramiz Mehdiyev, have also been arrested. Yesterday, their detention period was also extended by 4 months.
