Last year in Azerbaijan, kidneys were transplanted to 12 people and livers to 9 people with the consent of the families of deceased persons.
Modern.az reports that Mircəlal Kazımi, a doctor at the Surgery and Organ Transplantation Department of the Central Customs Hospital, provided information on this matter.
According to him, last year, a total of 65 kidney and 51 liver transplantation surgeries were performed:
"Two of the individuals who underwent kidney transplantation, and three of those who underwent liver transplantation were children".
It should be recalled that on February 24, 2025, the first organ transplantation from a deceased donor was carried out in Azerbaijan. And on October 31, 2025, for the first time in the Caucasus region, a heart from a deceased donor was transplanted in Azerbaijan. ("Report")
