President Ilham Aliyev has signed a Decree on certain measures related to the improvement of activities in the fields of digitalization, e-government, artificial intelligence, and innovation in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Modern.az reports that, according to the decree, the Digital Development Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been established.
The Decree was signed with the aim of identifying priority areas in digitalization, e-government, artificial intelligence, and innovation in the Republic of Azerbaijan, strengthening national technological potential, reinforcing digital sovereignty, accelerating the transition to an innovation-based economic model, as well as implementing a unified and coordinated state policy in this field.

Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan
Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan
Executive Director of the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to the Decree, for the purpose of organizing the Council's activities, a Secretariat of the Council shall be established, and the function of the Secretariat has been entrusted to the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
It has been determined that the Council may involve local and foreign experts, specialists, international organizations, scientific institutions and organizations, as well as establish working groups for various directions consisting of representatives of relevant state bodies (agencies) and other interested parties.
The Council shall ensure control over the implementation of measures envisaged in state programs for digital development and coordination of policies among state bodies (agencies), exercise control over ensuring the compliance of projects implemented by state bodies (agencies) with existing strategic objectives in this field, and take measures related to the improvement of normative legal acts, taking into account the proposals of state bodies (agencies) and recommendations of international organizations.
The Council shall report on its activities to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan once a year.
