The Ombudsman has proposed concessions for issuing referrals for medical-social expert examination for the purpose of disability assessment.

Modern.az reports that this is reflected in the report of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) for 2025.

The document was brought up for discussion at today's meeting of the Human Rights Committee of the Milli Majlis.

The Ombudsman proposes the following amendment for issuing referrals in the Cabinet of Ministers' "Rules for Issuing Referrals for Medical-Social Expert Examination for the Purpose of Disability Assessment":

It is proposed that a referral be issued if, despite the person having received continuous outpatient or inpatient treatment for the same illness for the last 3 (three) months, or intermittently for the last 6 (six) months, totaling more than 3 (three) months, the impaired functions of the p have not been restored, and there are stable physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairments that hinder the person's full and effective participation in society.

According to the current legislation, this period is 6, 12, and 6 months, respectively.
