The number of mosques is increasing, religious communities are decreasing - STATISTICS

10 new mosques have been built in Azerbaijan in 1 year.

According to information obtained by Modern.az from Cabinet of Ministers reports, 2387 mosques operated in the country in 2025, and 2377 in 2024.

At the same time, in both years, there were 16 churches, 7 synagogues, 23 Christian prayer houses, 1 Baha'i, and 1 Krishna place of worship in Azerbaijan..

Furthermore, the registration of 9 religious communities was revoked in the last 1 year. Thus, while 1003 religious communities were registered in 2024, this figure decreased to 994 in 2025.
