“The Law on Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Cinematography"” has been approved.
Modern.az reports that President Ilham Aliyev has signed a Decree regarding this.
According to the amendment, the concept of a foreign film has been introduced into the law.
Thus, a co-production film is defined as a film jointly produced by local and foreign producers and not considered a national film.
Henceforth, films co-produced with foreign cinematography enterprises in accordance with the conditions stipulated in international agreements to which the Republic of Azerbaijan is a party, and which meet the requirements for a national film, may be considered national films.
According to the law, the implementation of incentive measures to attract foreign producers to film production in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan is included among the main forms of state patronage for cinematography. To attract foreign producers to film production in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, expenses incurred for the production of films will be partially reimbursed.
The partial reimbursement of expenses incurred for the production of foreign and co-production films will be carried out in accordance with the rules and conditions determined by the p (institution) designated by the relevant executive authority.
According to the law, a foreign producer is a producer who is a foreign national or a stateless person or a foreign legal entity.
