Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev made a post about Azykh Cave.
Modern.az reports that he provided information about this on his "X" social media account.
Azykh Cave is considered one of the most important Paleolithic era monuments in the Caucasus and generally in the Eurasian space.
Hikmat Hajiyev stated that currently, archaeological research is being conducted in the cave with the participation of international and local scientists. He noted that these studies will allow for the acquisition of important information regarding the activities of Neanderthals and Homo sapiens.
It was noted that the conducted research may also shed light on the possibility of Neanderthals and Homo sapiens coexisting or settling in parallel in the region during the same period.
