New requirements regarding the operation of mopeds have come into force in Azerbaijan.
Modern.az reports that amendments made to the Law "On Road Traffic" on December 9, 2025, are being applied starting from March 26.
According to the new regulation, a driving license will now be required to operate a moped.
In addition, mopeds will be subject to state registration and officially recorded. The concept of a moped has been more precisely defined in the Law, and requirements related to their operation have been specified.
At the same time, unlike previous regulations, the requirement for mopeds to travel only in the rightmost lane of the road has been abolished.
According to the new amendments, restrictions have also been placed on the dimensions of cargo transported by motorcycles and mopeds. Thus, the transportation of loads that extend more than 0.5 meters beyond the overall dimensions of the vehicle in length or width, or that obstruct control, is prohibited.
