In 2025, a total of 184 appeals were registered in appellate courts in connection with cases reviewed in the order of execution of judgments regarding the Criminal Collegium of the Supreme Court.
Modern.az reports that information on this matter is reflected in the Supreme Court's activity report for 2025.
According to the report, the main part of the appeals consisted of cases related to conditional early release from serving a sentence. 81 appeals were registered under this category, and a large part of them fell to the share of the Baku Court of Appeal.
In addition, there were 37 appeals related to the change in the type of correctional institution, and 7 appeals regarding the replacement of the unserved part of the sentence with a lighter punishment.
According to the information on the activities of the Criminal Collegium of the Supreme Court, 3 appeals were registered regarding release from punishment due to illness, 1 regarding release from punishment as a result of compensation for damages, 1 regarding the application of an amnesty act, 1 regarding the early removal of a criminal record, and 2 regarding other issues arising during the execution of judgments.
In addition, based on submissions from institutions and bodies related to the execution of sentences, 21 appeals were reviewed for the resolution of issues related to the execution of judgments or decisions.
The report notes that 23 cases were registered under the category of other appeals.
Overall, the majority of appeals - 81.5 percent - fell to the Baku Court of Appeal, while the remaining part fell to other appellate instances.
