The 100-year record for precipitation in Azerbaijan WAS BROKEN

According to information as of March 28, 13:00, intensive rain currently continues in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula.

Information on this was provided to Modern.az by the National Hydrometeorological Service. 

It was reported that, over the last 100 years, on March 21, 1988, the amount of precipitation recorded within 24 hours was 36.8 mm, and this constituted 156% of the monthly norm. However, on March 27 of this year, the daily precipitation amount was recorded as 120 mm. This is equivalent to 508% of the monthly norm.

As for monthly indicators, in March 1988, a total of 83 mm of precipitation fell in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, and this constituted 352% of the monthly norm. Over the past 27 days of March 2026, the amount of precipitation was 128 mm, which constitutes 542% of the monthly norm.

Consequently, it has been recorded that record indicators for both daily and monthly precipitation have been updated.
