On April 1, a telephone conversation was held between Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Paulo Rangel, Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of Portugal.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Modern.az, during the telephone conversation, the ministers discussed the current state and development prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Portugal, as well as regional and international security issues.
The Portuguese Minister noted that a decision had been made to raise the level of his country's diplomatic representation in Azerbaijan and to open an embassy in our country.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed gratitude for this decision.
The ministers emphasized the importance of the mechanism of political consultations and mutual visits for the development of bilateral relations. Existing opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, trade, transport, and tourism were reviewed.
The parties also touched upon issues of cooperation within international organizations, noting the importance of continuing mutual support.
The ministers expressed their concern over the escalating military escalation in the Middle East, and noted the necessity of a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
The ministers also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
