Modern.az reports that starting from the night of April 1-2, 2016, fierce battles began between the units of the Azerbaijani and Armenian Armed Forces in the Tartar and Jabrayil–Fuzuli directions of the front. During these military operations, known in history as the April battles, Polad Hashimov served as Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the 1st Army Corps.
He was specifically entrusted with the command of the battles in the Tartar direction of the front. During the night battles, advantageous positions, strategic points, including Talish height, located in the Talish direction of Tartar district, were liberated by the Azerbaijani Army.
Colonel Polad Hashimov is awarded the 2nd degree “For Service to the Fatherland” Order by President Ilham Aliyev for his special services in protecting the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and for distinguishing himself in fulfilling the tasks set before the Armed Forces.
For the successful command of the battles in the Tartar direction during the April battles, Polad Hashimov was gifted an apartment. However, despite living in rented accommodation, he donated that apartment to the family of a serviceman who was martyred in the April battles.
It should be noted that Polad Hashimov was martyred during the Tovuz battles in 2020. He was posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan.
