The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has appealed to the public regarding the expected weather conditions.
Information on this matter was provided to Modern.az by the press service of the MES.
“According to the National Hydrometeorological Service, starting from today and over the next few days, precipitation is expected across the country, with intense rainfall in some areas, short-term flash floods and inundations in some mountain rivers, intense and intermittently strengthening rains affecting flood-prone areas around Baku, lightning, and intermittently strengthening winds," the statement noted.
It was stated that in connection with the aforementioned, the Ministry of Emergency Situations appeals to the public, urging them to comply with the relevant safety rules:
“Thus, to protect against potential flooding caused by intense precipitation, as well as flash floods and inundations, it is recommended to stay away from dangerous areas, immediately move to nearby high ground if faced with such a threat, and strictly follow the calls and recommendations of rescuers.
Furthermore, during strong winds, it is recommended to stay away from lightweight and temporary structures, buildings, and advertising billboards, and not to stand under electricity poles and wires or tall trees. Considering the difficulties strong winds create in extinguishing fires, fire safety rules must be observed with particular strictness during windy weather conditions. Additionally, users of small vessels should be aware that going out to sea is prohibited in such weather conditions.”
At the same time, to protect against lightning-related dangers, it is necessary to disconnect electrical devices from the network, avoid talking on the phone (landline, mobile, payphone, etc.), when outdoors, do not approach power lines, lightning rods, gutters, and antennas, do not take shelter under tall trees, and for this purpose, choose a relatively low-lying area; if in a car, stop the vehicle, raise the windows, and wait for the lightning to cease.
