Starting from April 4, intensive rainy weather conditions continue across the country.
According to information provided by the Baku City Executive Power to Modern.az, the amount of precipitation that fell in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula on April 5-6 was recorded as 90 mm, which constitutes 390% of the monthly norm. The rainfall, however, caused a number of complications.
It was noted that recently, the Baku City Executive Power and its subordinate structures, district executive authorities and their apparatuses are operating in an enhanced work regime.
Flooding incidents are also observed in areas of suburban settlements around Baku where a sewage system is not available. In those areas, city utility service employees use special equipment to pump out rainwater and also evacuate people in necessary cases. Water pumps, special technical installations, and heavy machinery have been deployed to the areas where needed.
The rainfall has also caused damage to the environment. Specifically, incidents of fallen trees were also observed from the evening of April 5 to the morning of April 6 as a result of wind accompanied by intensive rain. In this regard, the operational groups of the Baku City Greening and Landscaping Association provide continuous service. The employees of the Association arrived at the areas where calls were made, ensured the removal of fallen trees, and took necessary measures.
Concerning the current situation, the monitoring group of the Baku City Executive Power is working on site. They identify areas where water has accumulated, problematic addresses, and inform the relevant authorities.
It was noted that to eliminate the complications caused by the intensive rainfall, all responsible institutions of Baku city are working in a coordinated manner.
