Recently, the Prosecutor General's Office issued a statement about the high risks of cyber-looting and advised citizens to be extremely cautious. However, it is not explained to the public what this caution specifically entails, or what steps people should take. Unfortunately, banks also do not take any serious educational steps in this direction. For example, when I opened a bank account myself, I was not informed that I could be a potential victim of cybercrime and how to act in such cases.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev at today's plenary session of the Milli Majlis.
"Whereas, at least booklets could have been distributed and brief explanations provided by banks. Because not everyone can follow the press, and there are quite a few people who are not informed on this topic. On the other hand, those involved in cybercrime are not random individuals. Among them are former employees of state institutions and individuals who have worked in the banking sector. These people are very well-versed in psychological manipulation techniques and how to deceive citizens.
According to the information I have, some of these types of crimes are even carried out through countries that we consider friendly and to which we provide assistance, and the special services of those countries also play a certain role in the process. As a result, a large number of our citizens become victims of these crimes. Unfortunately, some banks effectively carry out their duties in this matter in an unscrupulous manner," the MP said.
