Persons violating the rights of Azerbaijani citizens abroad will be held accountable under this law.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by MP Siyavuş Novruzov at today's plenary session of the Milli Majlis.
The MP stated that in recent times, the negative aspects of artificial intelligence technologies have manifested themselves more in the fields of information technology, culture, and politics. According to him, by using these tools, citizens' rights are violated, and public and political processes are distorted.
S. Novruzov noted that in some cases, disinformation is deliberately spread against Azerbaijan, fake images are created through artificial intelligence, and manipulations are carried out even by using photos of deceased persons.
The MP emphasized that the adopted law has been prepared in accordance with international law and is consistent with the legislation of the European Union, as well as member states of the Council of Europe.
According to him, this will enable the application of legal mechanisms in the future: “When persons living abroad violate the rights of Azerbaijani citizens, those countries will no longer be able to say 'we don't have such a law'.”
S. Novruzov added that by utilizing these opportunities, both the protection of rights should be strengthened, and the spread of the harmful effects of artificial intelligence, especially among youth and children, should be prevented.
