Starting from June 1, admission to the Old Khinzirak Historical and Cultural Reserve in Western Zangezur will be charged.
Modern.az reports that the Monuments Protection Service of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia has disseminated information on this matter.
Since last year, repairs have been carried out in the ancient settlement and tourism routes are being prepared, and bridges have been built between Old and New Khinzirak.
In addition, the service has started work on a modular information center. It will provide guided tours.
It should be recalled that the village of Khinzirak (Arm. - Khndzoresk) was one of the oldest Azerbaijani-populated villages in Western Zangezur, which was placed under the patronage of the Armenian SSR in the early 20th century as part of the Zangezur district of the Elisabethpol Governorate. The village is located 15 km west of Lachin city, 8 km east of Goris city, near the Goris-Khankendi highway. The name of the village is interpreted in Turkic toponymy as “dark valley”, “deep valley”, “large valley”. The name of the village was changed by Armenians during the Soviet era and named Khndzoresk .
