The monument to the Bolshevik Stepan Shaumyan, who organized the genocide against Azerbaijanis, will be removed in Ararat city, the center of Armenia's Ararat province.
Modern.az reports with reference to "Hraparak" newspaper that the city administration made a decision about this.
Public hearings on this issue are planned to be held in the near future.
Helen Gasparyan, the head of the Ararat administration, stated that the removal of Stepan Shaumyan's statue from the area is the wish of the residents.
When asked about collecting signatures, she stated that no signatures were collected, "just a discussion was held."
