Yesterday, the State Examination Center conducted a graduation exam for the general (9-year) secondary education level in the Xətai, Nərimanov, Qaradağ, Suraxanı, Səbai, Pirallahı districts of Baku city, Ganja (Part I), Samukh, Yevlakh, Shamkir (Part I), Aghstafa, Shaki, Lankaran (Part I), Astara, Yardimli, Aghdam (including Kəngərli, Xıdırlı village full secondary schools), Aghjabadi, Shusha, Khankendi (City School No. 4 and Kərkicahan village full secondary school), Kalbajar (City School No. 1), Khojaly (City School No. 1 and Ballıca village full secondary schools), Ujar, Zardab, Shamakhi, Imishli, Hajigabul, Bilasuvar, Gusar, Siyazan, Khizi, and Shabran.
After the graduation exam, opinions were voiced regarding the difficulty of several questions in mathematics. It is reported that there was an error in 1 or 2 questions in the aforementioned subject. In this context, questions also arise about the overall difficulty level of the exam and how the final results will be formed.
In a statement to Modern.az regarding the topic, education expert Ramin Nurəliyev stated that mathematics was the subject that caused the most concern after the graduation exam.
"Students and some teachers report that several questions in this subject were quite difficult. It is even stated that one question was incorrect, and according to some approaches, two questions were wrong. If an error in that question is confirmed, the State Examination Center will accept this question as a correct answer in favor of all students."
The expert also noted that another noteworthy point is related to the late announcement of exam answers:
"Usually, the State Examination Center announced the correct answers approximately 2 hours after the exam, around 16:00. However, the non-disclosure of answers in the last exam has further increased doubts about whether this question was indeed incorrect.
Regarding student results, this year's exam is considered more difficult compared to last year's 9th-grade graduation exams. Last year, easier questions led to a significant increase in results. This year, it is expected that scores will decrease to some extent."
R. Nurəliyev added that the expectation was actually that the 9th-grade exam would be as difficult as the 11th-grade exam:
"However, this did not happen; the exam was not that difficult. Only in mathematics was a slight difficulty felt compared to previous years. Overall, the main difficulty so far has been observed in this year's 11th-grade graduation exams. It is assumed that this difference will be regulated by the State Examination Center making the level of questions in the block exams somewhat easier."
It should be recalled that 49,701 students were expected to participate in the exam. 54 students with disabilities (visually impaired, cerebral palsy, hearing impaired, and others) also participated in the exam. 4 individuals were found with mobile phones due to rule violations and were expelled from the exam.
In addition, students who did not have the required documents for participation in the exam – those who forgot their ID card at home, came with a copy of the document, or did not present a photo certificate issued by the school because their ID card lacked a photo – were also registered.
For your information, since the checking of open-ended tasks requiring written answers takes time, the results are expected to be announced after 6 weeks.
