Due to the damage caused by floodwaters in the northern region, classes have been postponed in some rural schools.
Modern.az reports that the courtyards of Hacılar village general secondary comprehensive school and Cığatay village primary comprehensive school in Khachmaz have also been flooded. Water has entered the basements and some classrooms of these educational institutions. 85 students attend Hacılar school, and 25 students attend Cığatay school.
In Khachmaz, the number of schools where classes have been postponed is more than 10. In Guba, Gusar, Shabran, and Siyazan, there are also approximately 10 such schools in total. The areas where some schools are located have been flooded, and floodwaters have entered basements and classrooms. In many educational institutions, the reason for the postponement of classes is that the roads leading to the schools have become impassable due to floodwaters.
Currently, representatives of relevant state agencies have been involved in the area to eliminate the consequences.
The Guba-Khachmaz Regional Education Department stated that due to the intensive rainy weather conditions observed in the country in recent days, a decrease in student attendance is observed in a number of schools located in remote villages.
“Ensuring the safety of students and the pedagogical staff is a priority due to the relatively difficult movement of vehicles in some areas. For this reason, short-term interruptions have occurred in the educational process in a small number of educational institutions located in regions with difficult terrain. In educational institutions where short-term interruptions in attendance are observed, necessary measures will be taken to compensate for missed classes in accordance with the lesson schedule. Within this framework, the possibilities of organizing classes according to a condensed schedule are being evaluated,” the statement noted.(AzərTac)
