The history subject is also included in this year's certification exam. However, some history teachers are already concerned that the exam will be difficult, resulting in a high number of failures.
It is interesting to consider what the fate of teachers who will be involved in certification for the history subject will be.
Modern.az reports that education expert Ramin Nurəliyev, in a statement to "AzEdu.az" regarding the topic, noted that the exam for the history subject will be approximately at the same level as other subjects:
“Generally, I view the certification exam such that a teacher should not be afraid of it. Because a teacher stands before students, and their knowledge and skills must be at a high level to correctly convey the necessary information to the students. Therefore, every subject teacher should always be prepared for the certification exam in their specialization, without fear or hesitation.
On the contrary, a teacher should consider earning an additional income to their salary by achieving better results in this exam. As you know, a 10% and 35% salary increase is envisioned based on certification results. This should serve as additional motivation for teachers. I believe that the exam for the history subject will also be at the same level as other subjects. I do not anticipate a significant difference in terms of difficulty or ease.
Because those who prepare the questions are the relevant methodological units for each subject. For the history subject, questions should also be compiled in a balanced manner across difficult, medium, and easy levels. The same approach applied to other subjects is also applied to the history subject.
I support the certification exams. This process revealed a reality: some teachers do not have higher education in their specialization or teach after receiving education in a field outside their specialization. It even became apparent that some teachers who are specialized in their field do not know their subject well enough.
Each of us, when sending our child to school, wants them to be taught by a knowledgeable, professional teacher. The education system also aims for this: for strong teachers to remain in schools. This is precisely the purpose of certification exams.
A teacher must always develop themselves. The approach of “I am already a teacher, that is enough” is not correct. The era is modernizing, technology is rapidly advancing, and teachers must adapt to these changes. The Ministry also wants teachers to constantly update themselves and teach in accordance with modern requirements.
Such teachers will successfully pass the certification. Others, however, may be unable to pass the exam and may withdraw from teaching activities. This is the principle of selecting the most capable, as in every field.
The goal is to retain teachers in schools who know their specialization well, are capable of working with modern technologies, and teach in accordance with the demands of the era".
