In the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), a new internal regulation approach is being discussed with the aim of improving the quality of the legislative process and preventing frequent tensions in Plenary sessions.
Modern.az reports that the “Report on Legislative, Oversight, and Budget Processes in the French Parliament,” prepared by the Assembly's Research Services Presidency, has been distributed to members of parliament. It is noted that the proposals included in the report specifically envisage the introduction of stricter sanctions, particularly concerning disciplinary matters.
According to the prepared framework project, it is planned to punish the behavior of deputies in the Plenary session hall in a graded manner. At the lowest level, a "reprimand" in the nature of a verbal warning is envisioned, while in subsequent stages, a gradual increase in the severity of sanctions is proposed.
According to the proposal, at the official warning stage, which will be recorded in the protocols, a certain percentage deduction from the deputy's salary is on the agenda, and at the reprimand stage, this deduction is to be further increased. During temporary suspension, which is envisioned as the most severe sanction, the deputy may be unable to attend Assembly sessions for a certain period, their access to the building may be restricted, and a salary deduction of up to two months may be applied.
It is noted that this approach is particularly aimed at preventing instances of insult, threat, or physical intervention at the podium. (Source Unikal.az)
