Within two days, 8 underground tremors were recorded consecutively in Shamakhi. The number of low-level tremors in Shamakhi exceeds 200.
The Shamakhi City Executive Power informed Modern.az that immediately after the underground tremors, relevant institutions were contacted, and no information about any damage has been received to date. Nevertheless, monitoring continues in the areas.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations also clarified in a statement to our website whether new appeals have been received:
“No information regarding destruction or human casualties as a result of the earthquake has been received by the Ministry of Emergency Situations to date” – the statement reads.
It should be noted that the earthquakes mainly occurred 23 kilometers southwest of the Pirqulu station. The magnitude of the tremors was in the range of 3–3.8, and the depth of the hypocenter varied between 8–13 kilometers. Although in some cases, underground tremors were felt up to 3 points in the epicenter and surrounding settlements, a number of earthquakes were not perceived by the population.
