Turkey's Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç stated that the decision made by the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) regarding former HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş has already come into force.
Modern.az-ın məlumatına görə, the minister said this in a statement to journalists.
“The ECtHR has ruled that Demirtaş's rights to security and liberty were violated. Since the appeal to the Grand Chamber was not accepted, the decision has now become final. Should the document arrive at the Ankara Regional Court of Appeal or in the event of an application by the parties, the matter will be evaluated by the court. We will await the court's evaluation process.”
It should be noted that MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçalı also commented on this issue. “Demirtaş's release will be beneficial for Turkey", he noted.
