Pakistan's army chief, Asim Munir, who received the rank of field marshal after clashes with India, will become the supreme commander of all armed forces.

Modern.az reports that "Dawn" newspaper and other local media outlets have disseminated information about this.

According to the information, a package of amendments to the Constitution has been submitted to the upper house of parliament with the aim of expanding Field Marshal Munir's powers.

The bill envisages the creation of the position of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. This post will replace the currently existing position of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) and will have broader powers.

The current Chief of the General Staff, Asim Munir, is expected to be appointed to the new position. With this change, he will become the constitutional head of Pakistan's army, navy, and air force. Analysts note that this step will transform Field Marshal Munir into the most powerful military figure in Pakistan's history.

It should be noted that on the day the constitutional amendments were submitted to parliament, Field Marshal Munir and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif participated in the Victory Parade held in Baku. In his opening speech at the parade, Sharif specifically emphasized Munir's role in the victory over India and stated that under his leadership, the Pakistan Air Force “shot down seven modern enemy fighter jets in just a few minutes.”
