US Secretary of State Marco Rubio admitted that Washington is working on a new peace plan for Ukraine.
Modern.az reports that Rubio wrote about this on his X social media page.
He noted that ending such a "complex and deadly war" requires concessions, serious, and realistic exchanges of ideas.
"Achieving lasting peace requires both sides to agree to difficult but necessary concessions. Therefore, we are preparing and will continue to prepare a list of potential proposals to end this war, based on the views of both sides".
According to Rubio, Washington's efforts are based on proposals from both Moscow and Kyiv.
The “Axios” portal, citing both Russian and American sources, reported that the US held "secret consultations" with Moscow to develop a new plan for resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
According to the portal, the strategy consists of 28 points divided into four main categories: peace in Ukraine, security guarantees, security in Europe, and future relations between the US and Russia and Ukraine.
The source stated that the plan is being led by Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine, Steve Witkoff, who has already discussed the concept with Kirill Dmitriyev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Vladimir Putin's special envoy.
A day earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called for the resumption of the Istanbul Process on Ukraine after talks with Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In response, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow is ready for talks on a Ukrainian settlement and added that the pause in the negotiation process was Kyiv's fault.
