Russia's position in the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia has not changed.

Modern.az reports that Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated this at a briefing held on Thursday.

According to Zakharova, Moscow's main goal is to achieve long-term peace and stability in the region:

“Our efforts are aimed at lasting peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus. The trilateral agreements have not lost their relevance; on the contrary, they remain a roadmap for the peace process between Baku and Yerevan,” she emphasized.

The Russian Foreign Ministry official added that Moscow is ready to continue providing the necessary support to the parties to find a mutually acceptable solution.

Maria Zakharova also stated that the next meeting of the “3+3” format, which is a regional cooperation platform, should take place either in Baku or Yerevan.

She reminded that the last meeting of foreign ministers in this format was held in Istanbul in October 2024.

“We hope that the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides will soon reach an agreement on where the next meeting will be held; one can organize the event this year, and the other next year. We are ready to support their decision,” Zakharova noted.
