The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine denied the information disseminated by the Russian side regarding the capture of Kupyansk.
Modern.az reports that in a statement released on the General Staff's Telegram channel, it is stated that the city is fully under the control of Ukrainian defense forces.
According to the information, special operations against sabotage groups continue in Kupyansk and surrounding areas:
“Kupyansk is under the control of Ukraine's defense forces. Counter-sabotage measures are being carried out in the city and its surroundings with the aim of detecting and neutralizing Russian sabotage groups”, - the statement notes.
The General Staff also reports a similar situation in the Yampol direction. In that area, Ukrainian servicemen are conducting “search-and-strike operations”.
The Ukrainian side also announced that Russia's claims regarding the capture of 80% of Vovchansk and 70% of Pokrovsk are not true.
It should be noted that the Russian Ministry of Defense states that Kupyansk has been taken under control. This information was conveyed by Russian Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov in a statement to President Vladimir Putin during a visit to one of the command posts.
