Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan believes that the formation of an atmosphere of mutual trust between the two countries and peoples is extremely important for peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Modern.az reports that the President stated this in an interview with journalists in the village of Kirants, Tavush region of the Republic of Armenia, when answering the question “at what stage should Yerevan and Baku be for the peace process between the two countries to become an irreversible fact”.
“Peace will come when mutual trust is restored between the two countries and peoples; this is a matter of time. As political leaders, we must truly ensure the political process and legal formulas to achieve such a situation,” Vahagn Khachaturyan noted.
According to him, since both countries recognize each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty, a bilateral legal process has already been formed, and the final completion of this process will be the moment when the citizens and peoples of the two countries can overcome the existing difficulties.
“No one can say when this will happen. Of course, we would like it to happen as soon as possible, but the authorities of the two countries should simply create favorable conditions, as many communication opportunities as possible, and not be afraid that discontent might arise in one country. I admit that the probability of this becoming a reality is high,” the Armenian President emphasized.
According to Khachaturyan, the problems existing at the global level today are the same for all countries, and their solution requires joint efforts.
“This can be related to climate, peace, technological changes happening in the world, artificial intelligence, etc. – all of these require collective action. Everyone accepts this, and it is not possible to isolate ourselves here, and in this regard, working with neighbors should be simpler and more effective,” the Armenian President emphasized.
