Russian servicemen delivered another series of strikes on Ukraine's gas and energy infrastructure on December 27.
Modern.az reports that during the attacks, “Shahed”-type unmanned aerial vehicles were used, and gas production facilities belonging to Naftogaz company and a thermal power plant (TPP) were targeted.
A statement from the company confirmed direct hits on TPPs and enterprises involved in gas production.
The Russian side is attempting to destabilize the system by exploiting the frosty weather conditions and the maximum load on the energy system.
It is noted that emergency brigades, technical services, and relevant agencies are working in an intensified regime, engaged in eliminating the consequences of the strikes and restoring the facilities.
Artem Nekrasov, acting Minister of Energy of Ukraine, stated in his announcement that electricity generation, transmission, and distribution facilities in Kyiv and Kyiv region were attacked. According to him, strikes with drones and missiles continued during the night, morning, and throughout the day. As a result, substations, high-voltage overhead lines, and several generation facilities were severely damaged.
The Ministry of Energy announced that due to the current situation, forced emergency shutdowns have been implemented in Kyiv and Kyiv region.
