More than 1,600 people were executed in Iran last year.
Modern.az reports that human rights activists have released information about this.
"Iran has recorded its highest death penalty rate since 1989. More than 1,600 people were executed last year. Thus, on average, more than 4 executions are carried out per day in the country. Most of the sentences were given in drug-related cases, but the death penalty is also actively used in political trials."
