Pope Leo XIV responded to the criticisms of US President Donald Trump.
Modern.az reports that the Pope said he would not engage in discussions and that his speeches were not an attack on anyone.
"I invite all people to seek ways to build bridges of peace and reconciliation, to seek ways to avoid war at every possible moment," he said.
The Pope added that he is not afraid of the Trump administration:
"I am not afraid of the Trump administration or of speaking out about the message of the Gospel. I believe that I am here, this is what the church does here. We are not politicians, we do not deal with foreign policy from the same perspective that he can understand. But as a peacemaker, I believe in the message of the Gospel."
It should be recalled that US President Donald Trump accused Pope Leo XIV of being weak in the fight against crime and unsuccessful in foreign policy.
Trump wrote that he does not want a Pope who thinks it is acceptable for Iran to have nuclear weapons and criticizes US actions against Venezuela. Trump also stated that he rejects criticisms against the US administration.
