No country should pay for passage through the Strait of Hormuz, and passage should not be obstructed.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. He noted that the Strait of Hormuz should remain open for international trade:
Fidan emphasized that Turkey advocates for the strait to remain open only through peaceful means:
“Intervention by international armed forces, however, can create serious difficulties.”
The minister also noted that Gulf countries have begun to better understand the importance of Turkey's defense industry:
“In the post-war period, these countries are interested in further developing relations with Turkey.”
In addition, Fidan also touched upon the NATO summit to be held in Turkey. According to him, this event could be one of the most important summits in NATO's history:
“For this reason, we are preparing very seriously for the summit.”
