Major General Roman Gofman, military secretary to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has been confirmed as the director of the "Mossad" intelligence service.
Modern.az reports that the Israeli Prime Minister's office released information about this.
It was stated that Gofman will assume his duties on June 2.
It should be noted that Roman Gofman is of Belarusian origin. He was born in 1976 in Mozyr, Gomel region, to a family of doctors and teachers. In 1990, his family moved to Israel and settled in Ashdod, in the southwest of the country. He graduated from college in Ashdod with a degree in electrical engineering.
In 1995, he was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces and assigned to the armored corps. He later graduated from the National Security College. In 2011, he was appointed battalion commander. Gofman later commanded various army units and was promoted to brigadier general in July 2020, becoming a division commander. In 2022, he became the head of the National Ground Forces Training Center. On October 7, 2023, during the Hamas attack on Israel, he participated in repelling the attack and was seriously wounded.
In May 2024, he was promoted to major general and appointed military secretary to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He participated in the development of the concept of humanitarian work in the Gaza Strip and played a key role in the establishment of the Gaza Humanitarian Aid Fund in early 2025.
